Hateful Odious Lies & Maxim #3

Normally I like to slow-roll the maxim, since it’s the ‘moral’ at the end of the story.  Today I’m going to get right to it.

Sleek Geek Maxim #3:  You’re the only person who can truly catch yourself in a lie.  You owe yourself better.

Why do we lie to ourselves?  That seems crazy, doesn’t it?  Well, it sort of is.  It’s a battle between your conscious and subconscious, a clash of your cerebral titans. I want you to remember one thing. Your body stores the weight that your mind gains.  Last week we quoted Nobel laureate Richard Feynman who spoke about a virtuous and self-honest scientific process that left no room for your ego or feeling good.  I teased you with the second part of this quotation, one with which you are likely already familiar.

“You must not fool yourself – and you are the easiest person to fool.”

He was right – it’s really easy to convince yourself of things that are not so.  I’ve been on this path for three years and I still catch myself convincing myself of pretty little lies.  As always, do not expect that you are above such primitive and destructive behaviour.  Expect it to happen and compensate accordingly.  At first, you’ll notice it happening only hours afterwards.  As you get more experienced at listening to yourself and your body, you’ll start catching yourself in lies sooner until eventually, you are able to pre-empt them entirely by catching yourself in the act of heinous self-deception.

The Sleek Geek gives you the tools to enforce self-honesty.  We’ll teach you how to use your body metrics to ensure that you can’t talk yourself into bad habits.  Check out a sample chapter or grab the book!

Did I help you today? If so, you can return the favor by tossing something in the tip jar. Pay what you want! You can also buy something from the Sleek Store, like your supplements for example.
